Windows 8 consumer preview is out now [overview]

Microsoft has just announced the windows 8 consumer preview which is now available to download from the official Microsoft website. According to the Microsoft, "It's Windows re-imagined and reinvented from a solid core of Windows 7 speed and reliability. It's an all-new touch interface. It's a new Windows for new devices. And it's your chance to be one of the first to try it out."
Actually the first look of this operating system is really impressive which makes a good impact on users mind. Microsoft has changed manythings in this and build some features from the scratch. The metro interface platform takes it to a next level of operating system. Now you will see touchable tiles in place of files and folders which makes the file management easy. You can drag individual tiles, or groups of them, to re-order how they appear. When you touch on a tile, the app takes the full screen and you can work on it now. I can say that the look is enough to fall in love with this new windows edition.

In the Windows8 developer preview you could easily swap between running applications in Metro interface by swiping from the left edge, but this new Windows 8 consumer preview takes that swapping functionality to the next higher level. You can do a left side mini-swipe, or use the mouse to go to the top left corner of the screen and pull down, to see all the running apps. You can drag an application tile from the Snap state to the bottom edge to kill it. And of course you can still have apps run in that Snap window in a minimal state.
Microsoft has bundled several of its own Metro apps with Windows 8 consumer preview, and you'll be able to download more from the built-in Store. The Photos app did a good job importing my pics from Facebook and Microsoft’s own cloud service, SkyDrive. Integration of this operating system with all other services and platforms is great.
Microsoft is undoubtedly concerned about security of this new platforms as hackers and spammers are more active. With Windows 8, the company has spared no expense for getting it right. In fact, some reports claim that when Windows 8 launches, users will only need the built-in security features to keep their computers safe. They will not have to go for other security tools for the security of their PC.

WIth this new OS, Microsoft is trying to focus on touch. Company focused on launching an advanced and stable version of the operatiing syste. In the end, i want to say that the Metro is gorgeous enough to keep me fall in love with this operating system. But i will advice you to install this first os a dual boot or on virtual machine before upgrading to the windows 8.
