Yesterday Globe announced the availability of the first USB modem designed to connect to HSPA+ 4G networks, endorsed by Filipino racer Marlon Stockinger. Today we share our first impressions and up-close pics of the Tattoo Tonino Lamborghini stick.

The Tattoo Torino comes in a black box with a transparent front.
You’ll have to cut the “do notaccept if tampered with” seals on the top and bottom before you can slide everything out.
That Torino Lamborghini branding is actually a carbon-fiber looking sticker plastered on a Huawei E372.
Like many other sticks manufactured by Huawei, this one has a USB plug, a slotfor a SIM, and a slot that supports microSD memory cards.
It also automatically installsits own software when you plug it into a Windows PC.
The service is only available for postpaid users (see the gwaping flyer above), and is powered by Globe’s 4G mobile network.
Our first impressions? Pretty good. Because we weren’t in an area with HSPA+ coverage however, we were unable to get close to the promised 10 Mbps max of Tonino.
We were at our favorite coffee shop somewhere in Makati CBD, and decided to disconnect our laptop from the hotspot to go online with Tattoo Tonino. With the speeds experienced in compiling, uploading and publishing everything you see right now, it was as if we werestill on wired broadband.

Update (6/4/2011 9:36 AM): I’ve been accused of “awts” and “brigade” of hiding something in this preliminary feature on Globe Tattoo Tonino Lamborghini. What’s interesting though is how both comments use the same IP address, meaning they came from the same computer or network . Whatever the case, we’ll publish more details on the service’s performance once we find the time to test the stick more thoroughly.
